My ps2 memory card having probs?

I started to save a game and it said my memory card was unformatted, wouldI like to format it, I went to go see the problem in the "Browser" menu that appears when no disk is in
and it just asked to format it again, my friends did it too, is sony doing something? and is there ANY way to save my data?
