my pontiac 1990 trans sport van door wont open?

i have a van and my side door wont open it.It just happened one day i shut it and came backa and it wouldn't open.I've tried everything to get it open but it wont budge.Any suggestions on what could help me get it open before i pay alot to take it to the shop?
