My pokemon emerald game wont work on my DS.?

When i turn on my DS and go to the menu i select the GBA game. The Gameboy bit comes up then the screen turns white. Somtimes it goes to the bit at the begining of every pokemon game that says the date the game was realesed and stuff then it starts make noisey scratchy sounds.
I REALLY need help
 
I think its because pokemon is gay.....and the ds doesn't want you to play gay games
