My platinum blonde hair is getting brassy. Can I re-dye it myself?

I got my natural medium brown hair bleached platinum blonde in mid- anuary and now the roots are getting pretty long, and the colour is starting to get gold and brassy. I paid around $100 dollars and I liked the whiter colour that it was before.

I want to get it lighter to that colour again, but I don't want to go back to the salon to get it done.

Can I just buy a lighter blonde colour from a store and do it myself at home? Will it actually turn out well or do I need to go get it toned at the salon?

I know my roots will probably turn orangey, but I'm asking about the rest of my hair.

i don't know about dying it yourself, but i dyed my hair blonde too and you can look for a shampoo made for blonde hair. the shampoo usually has a purple tint, to make the brassiness go away.
