My PhP scripts don't work,?

I made some php scripts. The coding seems about right.
They don't seem to work ( is this because my current computer isn't a server( laptop)? as they're server based?) So I need to copy them to that server?

EDIT:
I've got a server at my uni. If I copy the files there, I should be fine right?
