My phone says "message not sent"?

I have an Arc by Pantech (yes I know it's primitive), and my SP is Virgin Mobile. Well for the first time, my phone has said "message not sent" when I tried to send a message. This just started happening tonight.
What could be the problem? Is my phone broken? Or is there an issue with my SP?
