my period is a day and a half late. how long should i wait till i test?

hi this is our 14 month of trying and i have got my hopes up this month. my period was due on sat and its now monday afternoon and i haven't came on. i feel different this time and i have been a little nauseous but nothing major. i really want to test but i want to make sure there is anough hcg levels if there is any so how long should i wait? please help.
