My PC starts up in windows vista media centre?

Hi Im new to windows vista.
Lately my PC has been doing something really annoying: it starts up normally when I turn it on (eg shows the windows symbol and the loading bar) then once it seems to be all started up it says "No signal" and the screen goes blank.
Obviously there is a signal from the tower to the screen because the loading screen appears.
Im pretty sure it goes straight into Media Centre (i.e. the TV function that the computer has) when I turn it on because if i start in safe mode then it works fine and also if I pick up the remote that came for the Media Centre function and press a whole bunch of buttons, sometimes it goes back to computer mode and lets me type in my password and then goes to desktop normally!!
Its really frustrating! Especially cos sometimes doing the remote control button mashing doesnt work!
please help
Id like to know either how to use the remote to exit from windows vista
or
how to change the settings so that it never starts up like that.

Thanks in advance
kate

I'm too lazy too read you entirely long question but you can stop your computer from launching Media Center at startup.

My Computer > Drive C:\ > Documents and Settings > (YOUR ACCOUNT NAMES FOLDER) > Start Menu > Programs > Startup

The startup folder displays the all programs that run at the startup of your computer (When you log into your account)

Remove/ Delete the programs you wish not to run at startup.. You may have to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
