My Own Private Idaho

I thought this would be good because it starred River Phoenix who I thought was fantastic in Stand By Me, but it turned out to be totally crap.

I could understand the point the director and writer was trying to get across, but I thought it was really poorly done.

Anyone else watched it?

It's one of my favourite films ever! I didn't, not even once feel like throwing something at Keanu Reeves which I was quite proud of

But anyway, the film.. yeh it's amazing

Actually, I think its a pretty good film.

Its not an easy watch at times, but I'd say its one of the Gus Van Sant films that does the best job at getting you to emotionally buy in to the plight of the lead character. Its difficult to not feel really sorry for River Phoenix's character, made more poignant by the fact that he's brown bread.

Drugstore Cowboy was a bit like an (earlier) American version of Trainspotting...awesome film. Heather Graham's in it isn't she?
I haven't seen My Own Private Idaho for many years but i don't remember liking it much....

I'll take a Nay on 'My Own Private Idaho'; Van Sant tenRAB to be a bit of a 'hit and miss' director IMHO, and I found the film to be a little too 'up its own rear end' for my liking...

That said, River Phoenix's performance in the film is often electric and reminRAB you of what a good actor he could have become :(

I saw it a few years ago, it was a bit strange but I think it was quite a good film, I think people appreciated it more after Rivers death.
