My NOKIA N97 MINI REVIEW!!! MARIACHI MANIA

Hey guys, check out my review on the n97 mini; here is a little snippet of the surprise delivery.

On Tuesday, December 2nd - the door bell rang with an unusual vigor. As I traversed my way down the stairs I noticed a bright beam of light piercing through the opaque glass which adorns the vestibule door.
Fumbling with the lock I cautiously opened the door to be greeted by Dan from WomWorld, bright lights, a camera crew, and a live mariachi band playing the classic Nokia tune. In an instant my brain ceased to function with a reaction that mimicked a deer caught in headlights. Dan then presented me with a Nokia n97 mini and excitement ensued. I was subsequently hurried into a van in order to claim Dan?s next victim - CrazyPhoneGuy. The day was capped off with dinner and the usual tech talk. I would like to thank the staff over at WomWorld for putting together the most esoteric delivery in history. Dan was a gracious host and I am sure our paths will cross again.

The summer of 2009 marked the launch of Nokia?s new flagship touch screen device - The N97. Sufficed to say the reception was unpleasant. As bloggers unleashed what could only be described as eternal damnation of the nerd kind, Nokia was hard at work thinking of ways to fix the software bugs and hardware issues which plagued their newest creation. Fast forward 6 months later and the refresh model lands at my doorstep.

And the review:

I actually wrote this a while back and just forgot to post it.

I like your review style but I do not like that phone. The iphone 4 is a much better phone. I think you are in love with experience surrounding the delivery of the n97 mini and not the actual phone.

the N97 mini is a good overall phone. A faster processor and smoother interface would make it perfect. By the way how is the reception on that iphone 4 doing? Also, how about that shatter proof glass which cracks on impact?

I am waiting for the n8/ 9 they are supposed to be in direct competition with the iphone 4.

I think you want to focus on the negatives. For one I've already dropped the thing 8 times on hardwood floors. It does not crack that easily. Reception has not been an issue since I naturally don't hold that thing in that spot. I do not use a bumper either. Certainly more people have one than a N97 mini and they were given a chance to return it if it didn't work for them. I think most people kept it. Just like the E71, the phone was good enough that people trained themselves to not cover the bottom while talking. The pluses outweighed the minuses.

Oh yes it does break that easy.
I guess the glass is too close to the edge or something.
And reception, well tell that to the people i was just on vacation with that couldn't use their iphones inside, while i could use my n900 (ATT 2G only) inside the condo.

As far as the n97 goes, i spent the day with one before i was going to purchase.
My biggest complaint was that it took too much work to do too little. Until i used it, i never really understood when people said that symbian wasn't optimized for touch. Now i get it.

If you like nokia, the n900 at the moment is the phone to have.
