Okay, my girlfriend lives in Finland and she sent me this Nokia 5500 Sport phone and it works fine here in Pittsburgh, but as soon as I get in more remote areas it doesn't work. My Motorola works fine in the remote areas that I call from on a daily basis. Is there anything that can be done? I stopped by Cingular/ATT and they said the phone must not work on some towers that are shared or borrowed from partner networks.

Any thoughts on this? I lost my Motorola Sliver today and have to use the Nokia. I may have to suck it up and buy yet another phone.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Curtis

Using the 5500 on at&t could be the problem. You're using a phone that supports frequencies of 900/1800/1900Mhz, while at&t uses 850/1900Mhz. More than likely 850Mhz is predominantly used in your area. The Nokia 5500 was designed to be used primarily in Asia/Europe. The reason why you got excellent reception with the SLVR is because it's a quadband phone (850/900/1800/1900). If reception is really bad when using your 5500, you might want to consider selling it and buy a phone that supports 850/1900Mhz

Wow what a shame. Expensive phone. I should send it back I guess. To bad, it has a killer camera and is really nicer than anything I have seen here in the states.

Thanks for the information.
