My new Panasonic Cordless set model KX-TG7321E showing some problem.?

Whenever I try to make a call it shows the message-------"No link to base. Reconnect AC adaptor." I have disconnected all the power and tel. cord and reconnected again but the same problem is going on. The answering system indicator light is continuously on. If I put the hand set on the base unit it gets power and starts charging. PLEASE HELP.
