My new fish is hiding. Whats wrong?

I just got a calico fantail goldfish last night. Ever since then, it hasn't come out from the corner. The corner he is in is close to the wall and has a plant that he hides behind. And when I put the food in this morning, he waited until the filter blew it into the water and the pieces floated by him. And even then he still didn't eat much of it. Is something wrong with him? Should I get him a friend?
My tank is 10 gallons
I have a filter and a light in the lid
 
This happens to most fish they are just shy & will com out after a few days! They just need time to settle in after leaving all the fish! lol
