My New C50

if it helps any I have an 07 c50 and love it. only thing i can tell you to watch for is if the back rim keeps geting covered with black stuff (looks like combo of brake dust and grease) the rear hub of mine had way to much grease it was slinging it out. dealer said they have had a few 07 c50 come in like that. sais suzuki was putting to much in them. they cleand mine out and fine every since.

I HAD A 2006 M50 BOULEVARD FOR TWO YEARS AND REALLY LIKED IT.BUT JUST A FEW DAYS AGO I WENT AND TRADED IT IN ON A 2008 C50 BLACK.I REALLY THINK THAT YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH YOUR NEW BIKE.YOU JUST CANT BEAT THE BIKE FOR THE MONEY PLUS THEY REALLY PUT SOME THOUGHT INTO DEVELOPING THIS BIKE.SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING SHORTED ON ANYTHING ABOUT THE C50.FROM MY EXPERIENCE FROM MY BOULEVARDS I REALLY THINK THAT YOU REALLY CANT GO WRONG.

Hi,
I am new to the forum, but had to post to this thread because I am also an owner of a new '07 C50 Black. Here in Central Pennsylvania, I have not had a chance to ride it because of winter, but I'll be watching this forum closely for advice and once I start riding, I am sure I'll have lots of questions. I have purchased Cobra engine guards, sissybar/luggage rack, saddlebag supports. Anxious for Spring!! I have learned quite a lot just from surfing the posts here. Thanks folks! My previous bike was a 95 Yamaha Virago750, I wore that one out. 110,000 miles, but it still ran when I sold it for 900 bucks.
 
:welcomes: I have had my C50SE for 1 year now and yes i realize thats new but I have 8500+ kms and no probs yet(keeping fingers crossed LOL) Seriously, if you keep the maintinence up on, regular oil changes and checks from the dealer for the valves and winterizing(for us in the colder climates in the winter months) you should have no probs. And maybe I will see you on the road(who knows) Take care......
 
I also bought a backrest off of ebay and with that and the solo rack, it looks good. I have also lowered it 2 inches and that makes all the difference in the looks. I had a block of aluminum cut to fit inside the plate bracket to lower it and that looks sweet. There are many things that can be done to the bike if you want to work with it.
 
Just keep her clean, synthetic motorcycle oil isnt that much more, i always use 93 octane gas and never have back fireing problems, when your polishing your chrome make sure you use a clean cloth towel and chrome wax so you dont leave any scratches in your chrome. One scratch will make you wanna cry in the sunlight ;)

Havent looked and i doubt it does but everyone on here complains of a backfire problem that i have never had and i ride mine hard so i thought maybe thats it. who knows. Either way whats another 60 cents a tank?
 
You have not heard me complain about a backfire problem!

Oh I use the 87 octane.

3 x $3.08 = $9.24 divided by $0.60 = 15.4 so abour every two weeks I get a free tank of fuel, as to what you get.
 
seriously dude haha, it really dont matter what fuel you use. i can afford the extra 60 cents so i use the high grade, just like you would in an audi or lexus. Im not tryin to argue about the gas grade we use. Ride your boulevard and enjoy life and if i pass you on mine goin the other way give me a wave, we are all just one big happy motorcycle rider family.

haha thanks man lol. ya i have vance and hines debaffeled and the only time i had back fireing was when my pipes vibrated lose (but they were WAY loose before backfireing) didnt notice till i had gotten home and saw my upper pipe resting on my lower pipe. Lucky no blueing!

If your engine doesn't require higher grade, then it's not a matter of "I can afford the $0.60 more per fill up." It's..that the engine doesn't require it. If I had a Lexus or Audi that required only 87, I'd only put in 87.

You should use whatever the lowest grade is that doesn't cause engine knocking. If you have popping in your exhaust, it's because you have fuel that isn't getting burned getting through the carb that is igniting in the exhaust.

If that's happening, then using a higher grade gas (which requires even hotter temps to ignite) isn't going to help.

Plus, I have a 6 gallon gas tank. The difference here between 93 & 87 is about $0.30 per gallon, that's about $1.80 per tank. I can afford to run racing fuel every day, but my engine doesn't require it, so I don't.

Also, I have been looking at backrests and what I have really wanted is the same backrest that as my passenger backrest. You know the wide, slightly curved back rest that pivots. I found the pad and swivel bar here, cost about $120 for the pad, swivel bar and back plate. (go to parts fiche)
