My new backup phone

I was wondering whether I should get a Sony Ericcson Z520a or a Motorola v557 as they are close in price. I need this phone just for when i got biking and stuff where my SLVR could break. These 2 phones seem to both fit the description of what I want I just can't decide between the 2.

Which would you recommend?
 
The V557 is pretty sucky and pretty bulky...plus the cam (if that matters) is really bad and Motorola's UI is pretty poor too, and the body feels really cheap and plasticky. I would definitely go for the Z520a.
 
still haven't decided but ive narrowed it down to either a v557 or pebl. i was looking at the v635 but hear its pretty thick.

any opinions between these two?
 
Well if you for sure have decided against the V635 then I recommend the PEBL over the V557, the letter really does feel like junk. One thing I would look at is the way in which the SIM card is inserted into the phone. Most phones you have to slide the SIM card into a slot which can damage the contacts and shorten the life of your card, with the V635 (my backup phone) the card can be placed in and the contacts don't get scratched...so if your are doing a lot of swapping then I recommend you have a look at that part of the design.
 
yeah ive been hearing that the v635 doesn't always work like it is supposed to and usually takes flashing to make it work right.

I just want a phone that will work for me out of the box and im thinking since the pebl has all the features i want and nobody has it, it is the way to go
 
pebl idea just got smashed when i found out it was coming to cdma (verizon) as well as gsm.

I am looking for a phone that not alot of people have and when it comes to verizon everyone will get it.

so maybe the v635 isn't a bad choice after all b/c i have never seen anyone with one.

does it matter if everyone has it, i mean its gonna be a backup phone right? if that's the case, you might think about selling the SLVR cause a lot of ppl have that phone. but anyways, i dont know anything about the z520 to comment. the v635, you'll need to flash for it to work perfectly the way you want. plus it's design it kinda bulky and theres an antenna sticking out. for your purposes, i suggest the pebl cause its small, compact, and smooth design, all of which is great to pack away when you're hiking and stuff.
