anything we can do? She has told him she doesn't need his services anymore but he keeps dodging the issue and ignoring what we say.
We are based in Scotland. He keeps trying to change her mind and will just not accept we do not need his services anymore. Is there anyone I can go to?

Yes you can, put your request in writing, send it by registered post, in order for him to sign it, that way he can't say he didn't receive your letter, and most of all, stop any payment to him, don't forget to keep a copy of the letter, hope that helps.

Ask the lawyer why he's doing this. Maybe there's a good reason for it.

Edit - in the US, clients can file a complaint with the Bar Association if they have problems with a lawyer's actions. Find out what the equivalent group or licensing board is in Scotland, and see if they can help.

Well if he's not being paid, then surely eventually he'll give up. If she finds alternative representation then they can deal with whatever the original issue was and also the issue with the persistant lawyer.

Failing this report him to the legal counsel that regulate the industry or even to the firm that they work for.

If she's told him he is no longer required, then just don't go and see him, and ignore his letters and calls. He has, in effect, been dismissed, but perhaps you should send him a letter expressly saying this. Oh and don't pay him another penny! If it's really troubling you, however, go and see a different solicitor, and ask them to help you get him off your back, as it were.

How can he force her to take his advice? All she has to do is ignore what he says.

Also, stop paying him, and get a new lawyer.
