my sister.? My mother has been admitted to the hospital in Thailand since December and now became very ill due to renal failure. She is also under hemodialysis on top of her medicines and hospital expenses. I have exhaulted all our savings and now depending on our equity line of credit. Unfortunately, there is no financial assistance in Thailand to help pay for some of my mother's medical expenses.
I am married for 16 years in the US with 3 children ages 15, 14, and 9. Most of the people is Thailand think we have enough money to support my mother's medical bill and depending on me as the only provider to pay for my mother's hospitalization and dialysis. I also have a sister in Thailand who is taking care of her and working at the same time but then again exalted all her financial resources.
Over the years of my stay in the US, my wife and I was able to invest into two properties, one is rental and the other is our main residence. Both of these properties were not paid off and we are paying monthly morgage in which almost all of my income goes to paying the monthly mortgage. Like I mentioned earlier, the only financial resource I have is to borrow from my line of credit BUT my wife told me to stop doing it or we may run out of funds for other emergency purposes.
It is difficult for me to hear from relatives what my mom is going through. Should I listen to my wife to stop sending money to my mother and let her die or tell my wife to shut-up because I will help ailing mother whatever it takes even if we ran out of resources.
I am not saying my mother is a perfect mom but she put me through college in Thailand and that was my ticket to get a descent job in the US. I feel I owe her a lot and she badly needs my help.
What should I tell to my wife.
