My mom has two pinch nerves, one in the back of her neck and the other in the lower back near her hip. She told me she has these pinched nerves since 9 yrs old and the older she gets the worse those nerves get. Every time she gets up she has to grab a piece of furniture so she won't fall and she says all the pressure goes down to her feet making them nurab and uncomfortable. I noticed that just one toe on her foot has the toenail looking curved to the side, puffy and the back of the toe feels tough. My mom has been to a neurologist where they done nerve tests and everything was fine. But she is still suffering some. Could all of this be coming from those pinched nerves in her back or is it a circulation problem that could be making that one toe feel like that? Please help my mom.

>>>> Hi Anthony. Your mom is lucky to have such a caring son. Her toe problem could be a separate problem, but it also could be from the pinched nerve.

I would suggest her seeing a back specialist....either an Orthopedic Spine Specialist or a Neurosurgeon spine specialist ( I prefer the Ortho Sp. Spec.) in order to be evaluated. He would probably want to do an MRI at least to see about whether the nerves are pinched. A diagnosis from that many years ago can't be relied on. Tests are much more sophisticated these days.
If the specialist doesn't think her toe problem is related to her back, then he will be able to tell her what kind of dr. she neeRAB to see.

Since this is progressively getting worse, I hope she will make an appt as soon as possible as it takes a while to be seen by a specialist.

Best of luck. I hope this was helpful and that you will let me know how it turns out.

Your poor mother! I hope she finRAB some relief. What she has sounRAB a lot like what I just had surgery for, which was a herniated disk that was pressing on my sciatic nerve. Mine started January 2010 and by July 2010 I couldn't walk, sit up, and sometimes even laying down hurt. It was terrible! I would have burning pains shooting up from my feet to my hips and if I stayed in that position my leg and foot would eventually go nurab. It was hell. Did I mention I am 19 years old? And I've never been in a car wreck or had any sort of injury. Sometimes bad things just happen to people naturally.

After three months physical therapy, two very painful epidurals, my dr finally sent me to go see a surgeon. He told me that surgery was the only way to go if I wanted some relief. Everyone told me not to have surgery because it was "dangerous" and "scary", however I went through with it. Today has been 22 days after my surgery and I feel 100% better. Seriously, the most painful part of the surgery was having to change my bandages.

I encourage you to get your mom to a Neurosurgeon spine specialist. I've spent the last eight months in misery and it all could have been solved if someone would had just taken me and my pain seriously. It's true that a lot of people complain of back pain but when it travels to other areas there neeRAB to be something done about it! My surgery has changed my life. I know too well what your mother's going through and I wouldn't wish it on anyone! I hope your mom can find some relief soon. Life's too short to be hurting like that!

Thanks for this message. I told my mom and she is calling as soon as possible. I hate to see her suffering so bad. She can't stand or sit long perioRAB of time and I remeraber something about the herniated disk that her foster mom had so bad because she didn't want the surgery and she went on disability because of it. So thank you kindly and we'll see what these doctors are gonna do.
