she was yelling at her cause my mom didn't understand the definition of what a lie is and when my fiancee was trying to explain it to her via example my mom assumed my fiancee was calling her a liar...so she ripped into her.
um...fiancee is a woman...fiance is a guy...so for that 4th answer....you didn't get the question
let me make it more clear, I am a 28 yr old guy....my mom was yelling at my 28 year old soon to be wife...does that help

This would be one of those times where you should of sided with your fiancee and told your mother to calm down. Letting you mother yell at your fiancee tells her that you will side with your mother even when your mother is wrong.

I can't say what you should've done.

I can tell you what your fiancee should've done, though. She should have stood up for herself, especially when your mother was dead wrong. If I had been your fiancee in that situation, I would neither have just sat there and let her rip in to me nor would I have expected you to come to my rescue.

If your fiancee isn't able to handle herself at nearly 30, you both have a problem because you'll always be expected to figure how to come to her rescue. My mother in law and I don't have a bad relationship. She respects me because she know that I can handle her and more importantly handle her son.
