5 months ago a quick lube shop flushed my coolant and put the green coolant in it. Today I had a coolant sensor go bad and it was slowly leaking coolant. My mechanic fixed it but said the quick lube place put the wrong coolant in. I went up to the quick lube place and they realized there mistake and flushed in out and put the orange Dex-cool back in. So I had been driving around for 5 months with the green stuff. Do you think that's why my sensor went bad? Will there be any other damage to my car?

2005 mazda 6 3.0

thanks

First of all, Dex-Cool is a GM fluid, and Mazda is Ford. You don't use Dex-cool, you need the yellow organic coolant for Fords. If I were you I would have them flush it again with the right coolant, and never go back there again, they obviously have not a clue as to what they are doing. As for your question, any amount of build up on your sensor will make it go bad and Dex-cool is notorious for causing leaks. 99% of all 3100, 3400 and 3800 V-6s in all GM(Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile) coupes, sedans, minivans, and crossovers, virtually anything that doesn't have a Vortec Engine has an intake manifold gasket leak. This cross contaminates the oil system with the coolant system and vice-versa. I would have a "qualified mechanic" make sure that you don't have that issue, and then have the oil shop pay for the costly repairs.
