My male golden retriever became aggressive toward female lab.?

My male golden retriever became aggressive after playing with female lab, i don't understand why he became aggressive towards her. I have been training him and socializing him with other dogs of both gender, and this is the first time i have seen him behave this way. Any ideas? I would like to make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks for your help!
