My Mac wont run roms.?

O.k. I own the games I'm emulating but the thing is every time I try to run any game on my mac it closes unexpectedly. Its like choose ROM. I do so and then Poof it closes. Now I know nothing of the macs or anything of the Mac variety. I'm pissed. I have been at this for 3 days.

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME HELP! and don't go all its illegal on me cause that's not what i asked.
