On the New gold dollar they have taken Off "In god we trust" So it look like we are not a Nation Under God. We are not treated as the same. If Gay Marriage is Not Legal than Orgy's Should Be illegal to. Because There have to be two people that Are of same sex and that is WAY worse than gay Marriage (Even though Gay marriage isn't Bad) We are not treated the same No matter what anyone says.

I completely understand why someone would be against homosexuality. And I completely understand why people are against gay marriage. Usually because we are one nation under god. That's true, but we are not one nation run by god. We are a country that is a melting pot full of people of different religions, no religion, some believe in god, some don't believe in god, some believe in different gods, some are gay, some are straight, some are conservative, and some are liberal.

Our country is going against the 14th amendment by denying GLBT rights and they know it. Cant we just accept that love CAN happen in different ways whether it goes against your beliefs or not? This is who I am, a lesbian, Just get over it and accept it. Why do some people who are homophobic get so hyped up about this? It's not like they are gay. So why do they care?
WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR SPECIAL RIGHTS! WE WANT EQUAL RIGHTS! AND IF YOU THINK WE'RE FREAKS YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT KNOW MANY GAY PEOPLE AND YOU ARE IGNORANT!

There's a reason why they took the national anthem out of the school's systems. This country is suppose to be the land of religious freedom so therefore that anthem contradicts our foundational values. Not every kid in school believes in the god depicted in our own country's anthem. The only reason we have that anthem is because of the settler's religious mark. We can't deny gay marriage based on their religion when they're in this country themselves practicing their religion freely just as anyone else would. Freedom is the expense of accepting others freedom. It's pretty sad that a lot of our social issues are voted on based on the beliefs of the voters.

It's easy for people who aren't directly affected by this problem to say that that group of people aren't anything special. Kind of reminds me of the civil rights movement, I'm sure there were those racists who said those blacks aren't anything special. Why should they get the special treatment saying this as they aren't discriminated when they walk down the street of their neighborhoods. People are so in-drawn it's pathetic. Everyday I lose some hope in humanity...but there's always that something that always brings it back.

It's also funny when I see people bash homosexuals simply because they don't reproduce. Yet there's a lot of children in foster care because their straight parents were irresponsible, yet, someone who can reproduce themselves have no need to help out abandoned children. Homosexuals and those who can't have children or those who simply want to help out the children do adopt. A lot of heterosexuals don't even want children or to be married, should that be illegal too? This world is already full as it is......yet people use the most dumbest excuses to why something is wrong. Maybe if we were meant to reproduce maybe we wouldn't be gay.

It seems like all of the homophobic agendas are created through selfish insight.

Homosexuals aren't special in any way. It's like getting all worked up over people with big feet. I don't give a damn.

Just to get your attention, I am a concrete Conservative, Lutheran (a denomination of christianity) and think Homosexuality is morally wrong. And I believe you should be free to create a domestic partnership that mirrors all the rights of a traditional marriage. To be a true American Conservative you are required to believe in freedom above all else. Most Religious Republicans and most Republicans are NOT conservatives.

You are deservant of your right to become domestic partners. However, many of your piers have decided to take on "the Establishment" and change Marriage to include domestic partnerships not because they want additional rights but to subvert christianity and American traditions. This is why many Americans get a bad taste in their mouth when this subject is brought up. Most people see through the "BS" of the outspoken members of the minority gay community and realize that they are in effect trying to give the majority of Americans the finger.

However, if you really want your right to cohabitate and be in a domestic relationship that requires a "divorce" to end. You and your piers should not care what it's called and relent on the word "Marriage". Most Americans will allow you to have all the same rights if you are willing to compromise on the name.

So to answer your question; The American People care about "Marriage" because they see the attack on old school Marriage for what it really is. It is an attack on christianity and not law. If you Just want the rights, then relent and call it domestic partnerships. The majority of Americans want you to have the rights you want.

Proof of this point is the fact that most insurance companies allow for domestic partnerships in underwriting guidlines.

You are too focused on the physical and listening too much to what the chemicals in your physical brain are saying. Meditate on that and you will realize that there is no such thing as gay OR straight. You will also realize that it does not matter what really happens here or what any individual thinks about any subject here. The external forces here can't change our eternal internal selves. This is probably not the first time you've experienced the feeling. Rather then being concerned about other entities think more about why your entity is here and why it is embodied in your current shell. Perhaps it was meant that you were supposed to be confused at this present time to receive this message about what it is that you should be reflecting on (not confused about yourself but confused about the world and human interactions)...and in turn enabling your being to have the ability to advance to a higher state of existence when you pass on from this physical realm.

This nation was founded by Christians and all of the laws, rules, provisions, amendments, trials, are all based off of Christianity. Since mainstream Christianity is intolerant to anything except heterosexuality, you will continually see the government drag their feet to changing these ideals. This may be the "free nation" and the "melting pot" but unfortunately down in the political core there is a lot of opposition to progress.

If it weren't for how christians spead how "evil" homosexuality is, then we would see a lot less bigotry and homophobia. Greensboro Baptist Church....

We aren't a race of people, but we are in the same legal plight that the African-Americans were in during the times of slavery, and even after it was abolished. We relate just legally, I'm not trying to compare us with them in any other way. But the point is, even though the laws are supposed to apply to everyone, everyone is subjective.

I'm gay and I know what you mean, and it pisses me off. Especially when people say "what's next? Pigs? Horses?" We're humans, we aren't animals, why can't we be treated just like other humans? AND BESIDES, haven't you ever heard when animals like penguins and monkeys and apes and stuff get married with each other and it's splattered all over the news, usually from a zoo or something? Why the hell is a chimpanzee couple more socially acceptable and more meaningful of a companionship that it should be recognized by the entire world before us? Why are we behind OTHER SPECIES?
