notice to quit what do i do? Okay 5 months ago I kicked my husband out and separated from him. I also had our third child. In June my landlord sent me a notice to quit. I went to court and we agreed in front of a judge on a payment plan. I didn't sign anything in court. Since then I have been paying my landlord at least a $1000 a month(750 rent plus 250 extra) as per our agreement. Now he calls me every week stressing me out for money I don't have and threating to send the sheriffs to kick me out. He obtained a writ of restitution saying I didn't pay anything but $500.00. I have all my receipts. Is there anything I can do to defend myself? My lease is almost up, it ends in November and I think he is trying to kick me out so he can keep my deposit. Also the house I stay in has leaks and holes where you can see all the pipes. When I first moved in I complained about it and the fact that I cannot really use my electricity because I blow a fuse everyday. These things are still not fixed but I'm just trying to make it to the end of my lease so I can be rid of him. I thought that if you take money after a notice to quit is served it was voided? Am I wrong? I live in Detroit,Michigan.
