My king tour pac and rider pad have a gap???

When i recieved my new detachable king tour pac for my SG i noticed there is a big gap on both sides of the passanger backrest pad (street glide stiching)? I checked the parts numbers and they match for the correct years and i tried adjusting and even drilling new holes in the pad bracket but still have a gap. When i went to check out new ultras at the dealer i noticed some have the gap and some don't. Any one know any tricks to get rid of the gap? I removed the center bracket and that helped but the pad is not secured to the pac in the center now, and i don't wish to drill holes in the pac it self.
Do i have to just deal with it?

Thats what i figured but thought i would ask anyways, i was hoping the heat here in La would have molded it a little closer but no luck. After waiting 10 weeks to get this bad boy i wasnt expecting it not to seat correctly together but the wife loves it and hasnt let me put the normal passanger sissy bar back on. It killed me to see that the local dealer has the pac in stock in vivid black after i waited for the one i bought in NC for so long to get here, at least i have a fresh paint on mine.
Thanks
