My Kawasaki KXF400 has a chirp sound out of the exhaust?

It is really faint high pitch and sporatic when you give it gas. Is it the muffler or enternal?
 
If there are no muffler leaks, then it is internal. Have your valves readjusted. Also have your mechanic check your timing chain tension.
