...mechanic wants $360 to fix HELP!!? I live in Lititz PA, I am currently unemployed due to this great economy, does anyone know a mechanic that can help me, I also ned a muffler and tailpipe they wanted to charge me $300 for that, I did get it done somewhere else for $89, they also wanted to charge me $234 for 2 front tires, I found somewhere else for $167, I need to know about the front universal axles please help!!!!!!!
 
I USE TO LIVE IN READING ,P.A THE PRICE SEEMS HIGH BUT YOU SOUND RESOURCEFUL, SHOP AROUND FOR A BETTER PRICE THERE IS SURELY A BETTER ONE OUT THERE BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER IF THAT U-JOINT LETS GO YOUR FRONT DRIVE WON,T WORK BUT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LIMP HOME IN 2 WHEEL DR.
 
Most likely a repair you can do yourself. Get a book or go online for the step by step. Probably basic tools is all you need. Better yet, go to an offroad shop or Jeep dealer and just ask how to do this.I believe they are named CV for constant velicity joint. It is a very common operation so give it a try. Hey, use your womanly charm and find some help. It works, I've fixed a lot of cars because I was charmed.
