My Jeep Cherokee makes a strange noise while towing my boat?

I've towed my 1700lb boat for a long time with no problems. I recently bought a boat that weighs 2450lb, with a full tank and gear. My Cherokee has plenty of power to tow it, but am getting some type of hissing/grinding noise (hard to explain) while towing it. It really does it when I hit a dip in the road, and will continue until I let up on the accelerator. If I'm coasting at the time, it'll only do it when I hit the dip. The noise sounds almost like the freon running through the lines, only a lot louder. I cannot tell if its coming from under the vehicle, or from the engine compartment.

I've noticed the noise is worse on the way to the lake. I'm not sure if its because its hotter outside than in the evening when I come home. Or if its because the boat is about 200lb lighter after using the fuel in it.

I checked the transmission fluid, and no signs of it being burnt. I took it to my local mechanic, but of course it won't make the noise without towing the boat.
