A year ago my ipod touch was waterdamaged, I tried to dry it out and get it to work to no avail, im just moving house and lo & behold I have found it again.. on the off chance plugged it in to my PC and it started to charge! Partial success
I have a rather irritating problem with my gen 1 ipod touch 8GB, Things have certainly improved from the last state it was in – Completely not working – all of my music was gone but it still seemed to know it was my ipod
Now it will charge, and when started show the Apple icon, then it looks like it stops, reboots and I get the Apple icon again. – However if connected to the USB it will sync with Itunes and when it has finished when I disconnect it I can use my ipod as usual (however the backlight is no longer functioning) UNTIL I turn it off when I go back to square 2 and can only get the Apple icon
So far I have tried the “hold down the button” reset… this did not help … and I have completely removed and reinstalled the firmware, using the restore funtion in itunes (I think) This has not improved matters.
Can the Backlight be fixed? Can I somehow get it out of this dead loop and functioning at least without the backlight?
When I say water damaged.. I mean in the rain! it was in my pocket in a pretty nasty cloudburst!
if i do junk it 'ill never get another one! it looks great but too fragile.
