I bought a second-hand iphone 3gs 8gb. the iphone was unlocked and jail broken. when i took it home i tried to connect it to the wifi, it found my network but it wouldn't connect at all.
not knowing much about Iphone at the time i went into itunes to restore it and of course that sent the phone into recovery mode. (which i now know you should do with a unlocked and jail broken iphone)
I brought the phone into a repair shop, they told me that i would have to wait until the new ios5 came out to restore the iphone back to the ios 4.3.
when the ios5 came out last week they told me that they got the iphone out of recovery mode, unlocked and jail broken again, and they were able to put their software on the phone but they told me that the wifi is broken and they can't unlock the phone without the wifi. He told me he tried the fix the wifi but it didn't work, he said its just basically a good ipod and camera or good for parts now.
So at the minute the iphone is out of recovery mode, i can use the ipod, camera etc., but I can't make any calls or texts or receive anything. They just fail straight away. It shows 1 bar of network but it doesn't say what network it is beside it (02, meteor, etc).
Anyone any ideas of what i could do to get it working again cos i don't want to send it back into recovery mode again and i'm no pro with Iphones!
