First of all, the seat just has Eddie Bauer slapped on the side- it's made by Cosco--the most notorious car seat company for bad seats and recalls. It's a horrible seat--people seem to like it at first because it's easy to adjust, but the problems start from there. The straps are so slippery they twist like crazy and are then not safe to use. Next, in order to get the seat into your car safely, you'd have to pull the cheaply made latch connectors so tightly that they actually make the cheap plastic frame of the seat bend. Again, not safe in a crash. Then, the seat says that it's harnessed to 40 lbs, but most kids outgrow the harness slots before they are 40 lbs. Then, they say it can be used as a booster, but it's a pain in the butt, and doesn't actually cross their bodies in the correct position.
You couldn't pay me to put a kid in that seat. SO not safe, but because it looks comfy, is easy to adjust, and has Eddie Bauer slapped on the side. I'd return it and get a Compass tru fit---the top half of the seat comes off when in the rear facing position so it should fit in your Corolla with no problems at all. Plus, the straps don't twist and it's a much better seat. If that doesn't float your boat, go with a Britax--those are the best!
