My husband lost his job and insurance and he has serious health problems?

My husband has Alcoholic Hepatitis, Hep C and liver problems. When he was diagnosed (last year) the doctors told him to try an oral drug treatment for a year and if things did not improve they would do a liver transplant.Well he lost his job and his liver is still in bad shape. What can we do now? How are we going to pay for any healthcare with no insurance? I have not been at my job long enough to apply for health insurance so that is not an option. I am really worried.
Note: He is alcohol free now.
