...exactly happens there? My husband left to basic training (boot camp) on January 26th. Someone who has been there before, please explain to me in detail what happends in there from the first weeks day by day, second by second to the end. I'm so intrigued, I want to know all of this. I'll feel like I'm with him if I know everything that is going on. What is the message inscribed on the phone booth that they read off of and why must they read a message? From the 1st days I would like to know everything in detail. Can I send him anything besides letters? What can I send? Thanks.

He will be screamed at for 13 weeks straight. Barely get sleep and always be hungry. After this time period, he will come out a better man and be a part of the most fierce fighting force America has ever seen.

This web page should give you a good understanding of what is going on with his training. http://www.mcrdpi.usmc.mil/training/schedule.asp

My advice to you would be to write him as much as you can, even if you have nothing to say. Always keep it positive. The last thing you want to do is make him angry or depressed. When I was in Parris Island I looked forward to each piece of mail I got from my girlfriend and at times that is what kept me going. He might not be able to write much though. Most of the time I had to write my letters in secrecy. Try not to take it that hard though. Semper Fi

It's not physically tough compared to Special Forces or Special Operation (Rangers). It's basic training. Women complete this same training not together with men but all marines are held to the same standard. It's more mental than physical. If he's tough enough he can become Marine Force Recon which in order to become Force Recon he must complete Army Ranger School.
