My husband & I like to fish near the Fl. Keys, but the yellow flies attack,

what can we get to kill them?
Off does not work, we got "Maxi Deet" 2 oz size container for $9.00 from Bass Pro Shop and it work well for mosquitoes & gnats. The flies bit through our clothing and hurt really badd.
