...fire place wall... weird...i had? My Husband and I just bought a home with giant black lava rock boulders as a fire place wall... weird...i had never seen this before, but we were wondering if we could paint them also?? I was told by a contractor that they would paint, but that you would have to do several coats of masonry primer and use an oil based masonry paint... i hope this helps
Any suggestions on how to make this look more natural??
 
How do you figure painting rock is gonna make it look more natural? Weird that you bought it if you didn't like it. I think you need to decorate to play it up, contact a decorator if you have no clue. Maybe you might mean more ordinary...why would you want to look like everyone else? Try showing it off instead.
 
Rock is already as natural as it can get. Think what you're saying: You propose to paint something to make it look more natural? That's just plain impossible.

Maybe you've never seen natural before and don't like it. Yet. Don't do anything at all to it for at least a year while your taste in architecture matures.
