My horse's trot is very strange, it feels like she has 5 legs or something, which makes it very bouncy and her timing is all over the place. Obviously, this makes it very difficult to do a well timed rising trot. I bounce all over the place and it's all around very uncomfortable. It's just a shambles. On top of that, her trot is very fast. Actually, it feels more like a quick jog, it's the same with her canter. She goes like the wind. The problem is she's 8 years old and the trainer says that those habits aren't going anywhere, and that she's had this very "unique" way of moving since she was born. Apart from this, she's an AMAZING horse, i mean, you don't need to kick her to get her to move, you just have to TELL her to, and despite this, she really REALLY listens to all my ques and does what i tell her to....all except for trying to change this weird way of moving. So, i can't change her gait and way of moving, so are there any tips on how to try to find the right timing to rise in the rising trot? You know, work WITH her? Keep in mind in that she does SOMETIMES get into the right rhythm for the trot, but it's only for a few beats. I can get her to do this shortly after applying a half-halt to slow down her trot, but then when she's slowed down she goes all bouncy again.
Also, she's 15 hands, and i'm only 5ft 2 or 3, so getting on her on my own is less than easy. I keep kicking her legs on my way up, and i always get stuck and have to pull myself up with much difficulty. Are there any techniques i can use to help me get up easier unaided? Imagine i'm in a giant flat field with no stones or mounds to stand on, and no other person to help me up.
And one last thing, my fingers really hurt from half halting her, trying to get her to correct her rhythm, are there any exercises i could do to prevent this pain after riding? Same with my back muscles, is there anything i can do to soothe or prevent the pain? Since she's so bouncy it's taking a toll on my back muscles.
Keep in mind i'm a fairly new rider and don't know everything yet, so please try to explain everything clearly.
