my honda cbr 125 dies out or sometime doesnt start?

iv got a 57 reg honda cbr 125 which when i start up most of the times the revs are on 1 - 1 1/2 ish then slowly dies out so iv gotta keep it reved to about 4 for a while but the main problem is sometimes i try to start it, the electric starts working but the engine doesn't sometimes start up so i would like some good advice on whats wrong please and no stupid comments, this is serious
