My HD car radio won't give me HD stations?

I have an Alpine CDA-9884 which is HD ready but it won't give me any HD stations. There are quite a few stations in my area that have HD but I can't figure out how to listen to them. If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Is it possible my car is too old to receive the HD frequency it is a 1988 Chevy Cavalier.
 
did u look in the manual it should work hd is free in most states but its possible that you have to register the deck online or subcribed to it
