my haro bike i have a problem?

okay i put a new crank on my old crank had 44 teeth on it and my new one has 41 teeth but the new one rides super smooth but i dont like go anywhere i have to pedal a lot to go fast on my old crank i would go fast without having to pedal a lot now all the sudden i have to pedal twice as fast to go the same speed why is this i have a haro 20 inch
