W will l Guest Jan 20, 2009 #1 i did a large 75% water change today and since morning he hasnt come out of a little hole hiding spot. he is about 6 inches and i have had him in my tank for a month. Is this normal behavior? when will he come out?

M mwm0788 Guest Jan 20, 2009 #3 JB's right I do 15%-20% weekly changes tops.. fish need "established water" or "aged" water and really hate tons of new freshwater at once. some fish like puffers love 50% water changes but there an exception. changing that much water at once disturbs the established water column and mucks up the chemistry of the water the fish is used to. as well try and match new water temp exactly to old water. good luck!!!
