My gourami has what appears to be a cyst on his lip... are those common in fish?

With gouramis' mouths, it's most commonly a fungus. I would recommend getting a medicine specifically for fungi. Do not get the fizzy tablets for the water because they tend to not work as well as a liquid will.

it's not uncommon for gourami's to get this get an anti fugal Liquid they work the best
