We held onto out GM stock. The ticker symbol now has a Q indicating bankruptcy proceedings. The stock says it is worth whatever. Is it still worth that? Can it still be traded? how will I know if the stock has dissolved, or if it will climb at some later date? Is our investment gone?
As of now, is it a total loss?

Q means its in bankruptcy. It can still be traded. Right now its worth what it says it is. Eventually the stock is going to be canceled and worthless. Then it will disappear. New stock will be issued that investors will have to buy all over again.

GM has moved to the pink sheets ,
Ask your broker about trading / selling it now .

NO one knows if it will climb later ,
There are No fortune tellers in the market .

As of now (Wed. 6/17, with the market closed) it is worth $1.25 per share. It will not climb at a later date (day to day it may vary a few cents) but will gradually decline to $0.00 when GM emerges from bankruptcy and the stock is cancelled.
