My G1 is sloooooow

now sure what happened...its just been getting really slow. Not just online, but opening and closing programs as well. And when somebody calls, I answer, but it takes a second before the phone realizes I pressed the green button. Any thoughts on how to speed it up?
 
root it. you'll be happy. i put cm6 on a friend's recently, and it's quite snappy.

try a factory reset, or a wipe/reflash if you are rooted. it will speed things up. over time an abundance of crap accumulates. this will clear out everything. when you log back into your account, you will sync your apps(will still need to be reinstalled) and gmail. make a backup of everything else you want to keep.

I factory reset my G1 a few days ago after getting a new phone a few weeks. The G1 is super-fast again. I was surprised how much faster it got after the reset.
 
will I lose all my contacts? Its such a pain when that happens. And what about my calendar? I live off that and a lot of my past client info is stored in my calendar...how do i back that up?
 
No - these are synched with your Google account. So long as you haven't turned off synching in the options (default is on) in Menu -> Settings -> Accounts and sync (or similar). Make sure Contacts and Calendar sync is on.

When you enter your Google Account details when you first power up your phone after resetting it, your contacts and calendar will magically appear on your phone a minute later.
 
Your contacts, calendar, and mail are backed up on Google's servers. They will automagically re-sync. You'll lose your apps that you installed from the market, but the market will remember the ones you've paid for. You can export a list with atrackdog; it's in the market. You'll also need to redo your settings, ringtones, and homescreen layout.

I forgot the apps stuff though. Interestingly my SGS doesn't have those sync options. It's just Background Data, Auto-sync, an a list of various acccounts (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc). You can't turn contacts and calendar on/off individually.
 
i wish i still had my g1. i miss that trooper. the only reason why i even got a new phone was because the space bar started freaking out on me
 
Can you help me out. Big help I need. My girls G1 is running really slow and I want to put new update and run fast and look good on her G1. I'm not sure what I need and how to do it and DON'T WANT TO MESS UP ha. Can you help me out. She's running firm 1.6 baseband 2.22.19.26I Mod version cyan 4.2.15.1 build DRC83

i just read i have to have both cm 5 and cm 6 and both apps for both. so just downloaded those. and I downloaded the ra 1.7 img. but shouldnt that be a zip file also? ok so i put all that on sd card. then flash? lil confussed but I think i'm almost there right ha What bout the radio update?

can anybody help me here with steps from where i'm at now, is her radio old and noticed its not the tmobile radio cause it has a I after the #s, just need proper steps and do i have everything i need once i go to recovery. thx
