is causing the hum? I installed a new AirTek fuel pump in my 93 Jeep Cherokee Sport (4.0 Liter) and it runs great. However after 5-10 minutes of driving my fuel pump starts to hum. It sounds like the normal fuel pump sound, only its 100x louder (i can hear it over my bad exhaust and over my radio). After a few minutes of the fuel pump humming, my Jeep will start bogging down, every time i give it gas (more than idle) the motor will die and eventually the Jeep will shut down permanantly (this only happens under a load, it will idle forever without ever turning off). If I leave the ignition off for about 5 minutes, then start it back up, it will run fine w/out any humming for another few minutes.

I called AirTek's support and they said one of three things: plugged filter on the new pump (from rust in the tank), low voltage, or bad fuel pump. It's a brand new tank and I sloshed gas around in it to make sure it was clean before installing the fuel pump, I have checked the voltage and it's fine, I have checked the fuel pressure at idle while the pump was humming and all the readings are good (no i cannot check the voltage or fuel pressure while driving).

After those facters I figured it was a bad fuel pump so I exchanged it for another new one. After installing the new pump, my jeep does the EXACT SAME THING! I've taken it to 3 mechanics now who all have no idea what's wrong with it! HELP PLEASE!
