My friends 1995 ford mustang broke down today?

We were driving on the freeway and the (ABS) light came on, and while we were trying to figure out what that meant the radio flickered and turned off. Then the airbag light came on and the lights started dying and we then lost all power. Does anyone know what happened? Do you think it is possibly the battery? How would we go about finding out what is wrong without having to take it to a shop? Any help is appreciated.

most likely the alternator is not charging and the car ran until the battery was drained. You can take the alternator off and take it to any autozone or advance auto parts. they can test it for you. so can any alternator/starter shop. you will probably also need to charge up the battery, don't just put a new alternator on a car with a dead battery. you can ruin the new alternator.
