My friend has a 1980 motor home with a ford rebuilt carb?

He just had the carburetor rebuilt and started his cross country trip. His MPG has dropped from 15mpg down to 2. Any ideas on what to look for would be appreciated. He is now stuck in Ill and heading for California. I think its the choke, but since i'm not a mechanic, i just dont know.
 
a rebuilt carb should not be doing that.sounds to me like the mixture screw has been mixed up. tel him to take it to mechanic to get put on properly should only take 10 min to fit carb and however long to tune it.
