Check your pulleys, take the belt off and hand spin all the pulleys, if one of them is out it will not spin as easy and may even squeak..replace belt whenever you take the time to remove it, usually its time for a replacement anyways. if its something like an idler pulley, or a delete pulley then its a simple fix, but if its something like an a/c compressor, or a power steering pump, then take to a mechanic. After this step, if the pulleys are ok your car should be taken to a mechanic because there is not much an average person can do.You should have your transmission fluid and your oil changed, those can cause a squeaking. If that doesnt work(yes, automotive can get expensive after this) then your bearings on the connecting rod are going out, if your check engine light is on while the squeaking is going on, take it to a repair shop as soon as you can, if the bearings are in fact busted, then it can end up causing the motor to seize, or stop running and not crank.

...can be the cause of it? only when i am driving do i hear the sound it doesn't make the sound when i am for example stopped at a red light or stop sign.

well it could be a belt put your car in neutral rev it slightly does it squeal if not it could be brakes when driving does it change when you apply the brakes if not then you need to have someone check for a vacuum leak or broken motor mount
good luck
