my ford mustang has a grinding noise in the brakes?

I am noticing a grinding noise when i release the brake,it does not make any noise when i press down on the brakes but when i am releasing the brakes it makes a grinding noise.i thought it was the brake pads so i had all new brake pads put on ,but it is still making the noise what could it be,its a 2003 ford mustang base model v6 and automatic and it is rear wheel drive
