its happened about 7 times now, usually when im leaving my boyfriends, theres a slight hill going down to some traffic lights and i put my clutch in as im approaching the lights and my engine just cuts out, but it did it down a more busier road the other day i was doing like 30 mph, put my clutch in to start to slow down as i was approaching some lights and it cut out again, had to turn the engine back on while rolling along... scaring me now!!

a while back i had a problem and this mechanic my sister knew detached a cable that does something along the lines of " sends a signal from the gearbox to the engine to say ur slowing down," he didn't explain very well and im a 19 year old girl so have no idea... but that was because when ever i was changing up a gear when slowing down.. every time i put my clutch in my engine would rev for about 3 secs before going back down again... since he did what he did its stopped that... but then started cuttin out..didn't no if it could be related!!

please help!

It sounds like you have a problem with your idle speed control valve. You can sometimes solve this problem by removing the valve and cleaning it with carb cleaner and re-fitting it. However if this doesn't work you will have to replace it. They cost about £70 new.

Sounds like a blocked filter either fuel or air (both easy to do) If it idles ok but hesitates on pressing the accelerator then its definately a blockage if there are no other noises. I would get some redex in the tank (available from halfords quite cheap as it will clean injectors too) if like most girls you run the fuel tank on empty all the time. (no offence)
