Sounds like a differential problem, power should go to each wheel. Your symptoms say it is all going to one wheel only. If it switches from side to side then both axles are ok. Has to be internal to the differential.
Sounds like the gear box is engaging the axes at different time. Probably it always jerks to the same side when it's shifting up and to the opposite side when it's shifting down.
Get the gear box checked.
